ALL HANDS ON DECK PROGRAM
“All Hands On Deck” is a program to help veterans get back into the rhythm of civilian life as well as enter the job market. Sometimes it’s easy, but not always. There’s a saying that it takes a village to raise a child. Our program is based on a community of local businesses and organizations lending a hand in our heroes’ transition. This program is manage by Nationwide Community Resources, LLC in Orlando, Florida.
In the post 9/11 era, veterans tend to have more trouble transitioning to civilian life, even more so than those from the Vietnam and Korean conflicts. The difficulty increases if the veteran had a traumatic experience during his or her service or was in a war zone.
Finding a job in the civilian employment realm can be downright frustrating. There often seems to be a language barrier between actual military experience and what civilian employers see. This can result in a person who managed over 40 people in the military only being qualified for an entry-level position in the civilian world.
There are many reasons why the return to civilian life can be difficult. One big obstacle is that civilians often don’t understand what those in the military have experienced or what being in the military entails. This results in a big communication gap.
